BTB attends 2008 Life @ 50+ AARP National Event & Expo

The Belize Tourism Board attended the Life @ 50+ AARP National Event and Expo from September 4^th - 6^th, 2008, in Washington, D.C. This annual event was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center where approximately 27,000+ AARP members attended the three-day event celebrating AARP's 50^th Anniversary. To commemorate the day, a series of events and activities were held and the Belize Tourism Board had the opportunity to participate and promote the BTB's "Qualified Retired Persons (Incentive) Program" to those in attendance.

The exhibition floor was divided into four sections consisting of — Government & Non-profits, Health & Fitness, Travel & Leisure, Housing and Technology. A number of AARP members visited the BTB's display booth, acquiring information on Belize in regards to planning a family vacation or embarking on a cruise excursion which had Belize on its itinerary.

Approximately 70 percent of the members who visited BTB's booth were either past visitors to Belize and were interested in returning or had heard about our beautiful country from relatives and friends who had visited. Many visitors sought information on the "Qualified Retired Persons (Incentives) Program," managed by BTB. Since the inception of the "Retired Persons Incentive Program," awareness of Belize as a retirement destination has grown significantly. The program is open to anyone forty-five years or older and qualified dependents including spouses and children under the age of eighteen and dependents as old as twenty-three if they are enrolled in a university. Materials distributed to visitors at the booth included - "Destination Belize" magazines, image and retirement brochures, Belize tote bags, Belize maps as well as Traveller's miniature rums and an assortment of Marie Sharp pepper products.
