Promotional activities on the Internet are complementary to public relations and marketing activities in other media and there were several such Internet marketing activities in October.
Leading up to the DEMA trade show, Belize was featured as the Destination of the Month on the popular ScubaDiving.com– website of Scuba Diving magazine. Features of the campaign included incorporation of the new "Be one with Belize" tagline, banners throughout the website advertised the chance to win a trip to Belize and links to a Belize page describing Belize unique dive locations along with dive packages provided by the private sector.
Dive packages were not the only private sector promotions advertised this month as requests were received via BVK, from several print publications for vacation offerings under the theme of Christmas and New Years and, Girlfriends Getaways. These specials were added to the other low season offers that have been promoted since July, bringing the total number of private sector specials promoted by the Belize Tourism Board to over 100.
These offers are highlighted on the home page of travelbelize.org and sent to the BTB's consumer and travel trade mailing lists along with recent news of low airfare sales to Belize by all major airlines. These are only a few examples of the collaborative effort between the Belize Tourism Board and private sector in addressing our marketing challenges.
