Latina Magazine Visits Belize
Writer of Latina Magazine, Mrs. Verky Acros, visited Belize on a one-week eco-tourism familiarization trip and explored both the inland and offshore areas of our diverse country.
Latina Magazine is a magazine for Hispanic women, and is the flagship publication of Latina Media Ventures, LLC. It has a circulation of 526,329 and features articles primarily about fashion, beauty, culture, food, and education as well as celebrity profiles and interviews.
Mrs. Acros' first stop on her travel itinerary took her to the hills of Cayo where she sampled the various aspects of Belize's eco-tourism. Her first visit was the Natural History Center to learn about Belize's past and its beautiful surroundings. The second leg of her itinerary took her to northern Belize to the ancient Maya site of Lamanai where she was accompanied by an expert guide and explored the mysterious jungle-shrouded temples of the 3000 year old civilization and had first-hand experience of nature and ancient history coexisting.
During her visit in northern Belize, she engaged in the crocodile encounter via airboat into the surrounding floodplains. This was truly an amazing experience for her as she was able to observe, as well as assist the naturalist as he endeavored to capture, collect data and educate on the endangered Morelet's crocodile. The last leg on her seven-day itinerary took her to the island of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye where she enjoyed a snorkel tour in the blue waters of Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley.
Participating private sector partners included The Lodge at Chaa Creek, Ka'ana Boutique and Resort, Yute Expeditions, Lamanai Outpost Lodge, Victoria House, and SEAduced by Belize.
