Belize Delegation Hosts Meetings With Travel Agents In Canada

Representatives from the Belize Tourism Board and private sector partners traveled to Toronto and Montreal in Canada on May 26th and May 28th, to meet with over 95 travel agents.

The format for the evening was that of a mini tradeshow where members of the delegation had individual tables to display and distribute their promotional materials.  Each participant had the opportunity to have one-on-one consultations with attending travel agents giving them the chance to enhance their existing business relationships and to develop new ones.

Canada is an important secondary market for Belize and hosting meetings with such travel agents allows for developing greater business prospects in the Canadian market. It is important to note that a total of 17,695 Canadians visited Belize in 2008. As a part of this fiscal year’s marketing plan, the BTB Marketing team will be aggressively marketing Belize in Canada by attending trade shows and conducting sales presentations and familiarization trips for Canadian wholesalers and travel agents.

Participating private sector partners included the Lodge at Chaa Creek, Ian Anderson's Caves Branch/Almond Beach, and The Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza. Representing the Belize Tourism Board were Marketing Officers Melecia Bank and Karina Cunil.
