5th Annual National Primary School Social Studies Quiz Competition

As part of the Belize Tourism Board's annual educational program for young people to become aware of Belize's thriving tourism industry, the 5th Annual National Primary School Social Studies Quiz competition is geared towards Standard 5 and 6 students in primary schools throughout the country of Belize.

Zone eliminations within the districts have been completed with the next step being district finals. Here contestants will test their knowledge and preparation to become one of the two schools from each district competing for the national championship.

By the end of March, three districts had completed the process and know which schools will represent them at the national competition.

• The winners from the Corozal District were Ian Correa from St. Francis Xavier who took 1st place and Heidan Sosa from Libertad Seven Days Adventist who took 2nd place.
• Representing the Toledo District will be Sheraine Romero from Little Flower R.C. who placed 1st and Parnella Wewe from Crique Jute Government School who placed 2nd
• Representing the Belize District will be Suzanna Young from St. John's Anglican in 1st place and Denrick Heredia from Lucky Strike Government school in 2nd place.

District finals for the Cayo District, Stann Creek District and Orange Walk District are scheduled for April 1st, April 23rd, and May 7th respectively.

Tourism sponsors during the first three district finals included R&D's Diner, Tony's Inn, Corozal Bay Resort, Suncreek Lodge, Bacab Eco-Park and Old Belize Adventures.
