Belize Travel Training to LibGo Travel Agents in the US

Michelle Bowers, Marketing Officer at the Belize Tourism Board, Andrew Godoy of the Belize Tourism Industry Association and Bridgette Bougas of Discovery Expeditions delivered training to over 75 agents from different parts of the United States for Liberty Go Go Travel from June 2nd to June 6th in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York. The purpose of the training was to assist LIBGO Agents to become Belize Destination Specialists. Presentation style, delivery and content were centered on Belize and its unique cultures, food, festivals and tourism product including niche markets and new hotel developments.

The training began with a 3 minute introductory video from the new Belize country presentation to be released shortly. The PowerPoint presentation was enhanced with local flavor as each trainer wore individual cultural dress as a fisherman, a Garifuna woman and the third as a Mayan grandmother.

The first session was held in King of Prussia, Philadelphia with 24 agents participating. The second session was held in Mahwah, New Jersey, at LIBGO Training Center with over 46 agents participating. The final session was delivered in Upstate New York, in Utica with 10 agents participating. These session also went off without any glitches where the presentation style and content proved to be what the agents were looking for. After the presentations, there was a question and answer session, after which the participants were treated to some Belizean treats of fudge (candy), Marie Sharp's Pepper Sauce & Jams and One Barrel Rum. A raffle was drawn where an agent won a round trip for two to Belize.

At the end of each presentation agents were given a sneak preview of the agent training courses and tests being developed on the BTB's new Belize Travel Trade website at Belizetraveltrade.org
