BTB Emergency Preparedness Plan
The hurricane season is upon us and special attention must be paid to the Emergency Preparedness Plans. The heavy rains from the recent Tropical Storm Arthur, caused major flooding, damage to property and loss of life, these reminders have been the major cause for the activation of the BTB Emergency Plans. Industry plans should include:
- Actions taken to protect property and human life.
- Actions that will allow us to get back into operations as quickly as possible following a disaster.
- Communications plans to let the world know that we are open and ready for business.
The Belize Tourism Board's, BelizeEmergency.net is designated as the central point for tourism updates should there be an "unplanned event" affecting the tourism industry. Once this website is activated, ongoing contact is established with local service providers and international trade and media; banners are also placed on all BTB websites.
The website contains official BTB releases, destination updates and notices of specials and promotions offered by the industry in the aftermath. We hope that there are no events that cause the activation of these procedures.
