Signing of Contract for the Paving of the Placencia Road
On Friday, July 11th, 2008, the signing of the contract for the paving of the Placencia Road was completed. The ceremony was held at the Inn at Robert’s Grove in Placencia and was attended by approximately 100 persons.

Among those in attendance were the Prime Minister, Hon. Dean Barrow, Minister of Works, Hon. Anthony "Boots" Martinez, Minister of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Hon. Manuel Heredia, and Minister of Transport, Hon. Melvin Hulse and Managing Director of CISCO Constructions Mr. John Woods.
"Driving on that twenty-three mile long road from the Southern Highway to the entrance of the village has been uncongenial for the people living in Placencia as well as those visiting this beautiful part of Belize. It has also inevitably affected the stakeholders in the fast growing tourism industry," commented Minister of Tourism, Hon. Manuel Heredia.
Placencia from tip to top is a long stretch of pristine beach peninsula with its main attraction being its tranquil waters themed with island adventure. With the contract signed, the Placencia Road will be well help to expand tourism in the country and a needed resource for the residence of southern Belize.
