Annual Social Studies Quiz 2009

The Belize Tourism Board is once again hosting the 5th Annual Primary School National Social Studies Quiz Competition. This competition is a part of BTB's annual educational program and is a way of building awareness amongst primary school students by promoting the country's thriving tourism industry and what Belize has to offer as a premier tourism destination.

The National Social Studies Quiz Competition is geared at children in standards five and six from schools throughout the country of Belize. Zone eliminations have been well underway with the completion of Corozal, Cayo, and Stann Creek districts. Both Corozal and Cayo districts consisted of 7 zones, while Stann Creek consisted of 5 zones. During the month of March, the remaining districts will test their knowledge. Belize consists of 7 zones, Orange Walk, 5 zones, and Toledo, 4 zones.

At the end of zone eliminations, each district will then move on to the district finals where they will compete with each other until two schools remain to vie for the final stage of the competition and the chance to become the champion of the 5th National Social Studies Quiz Competition.

The final competition between the remaining two schools will be held in May at the Bliss Institute for the Performing Arts.
