Parade Magazine Visits Belize

Janice Chaplan - Parade MagazineJanice Chaplan, Editor-in-Chief for Parade Magazine, was in Belize from January 24th - January 31st traversing both inland and offshore Belize.

Parade Magazine is the print equivalent to the "Today Show" and is the most widely read magazine in the U.S. with a circulation of 32 million and a readership of 71 million. The magazine is distributed by more than 470 Sunday newspapers, including the Baltimore Sun, Houston Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times, The Miami Herald, the New York Post and the Washington Post, to name a few.

Ms. Chaplan first visited San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, where she snorkeled with nurse-sharks and rays at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and & Shark Ray Alley, as well as getting in a superb day of fishing.

Janice was then embraced by mountains, jungle and sea, and witnessed Maya tradition first hand in the district of Punta Gorda. Whilst there she also took the opportunity to visit the waterfalls of the Rio Blanco National Park and the ancient and unique Maya city of Lubaantun.

The final leg of her itinerary took her to Orange Walk District where she explored the mysterious jungle-shrouded temple of Lamanai and travelled by airboat to the surrounding flood-plains to observe the Morelet's crocodile in their natural habit.

Janice Chaplan - Parade MagazineOf course, there was no finer way to end her day than on the New River Lagoon surrounded by tropical forest and wildlife with a well-stocked cooler, snacks and her own personal bartender as she watched the sun disappear below the treetops from a 30 ft. pontoon boat.

Participating private sector partners who assisted in making this trip a success included Tropic Air, Mata Chica Resort, El Pescador, Elvis Kitchen, Cotton Tree Lodge, Lamanai Outpost Lodge, Island Ferry and Sea-duced by Belize.
