34 Trainers Complete Heritage Tourism Course

On February 22^nd, the Belize Tourism Board, the International Center for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) and the Belize Tourism Industry Association coordinated a "Train the Trainers" workshop to 34 trainers from all over the country in Heritage Tourism at the Coastal Zone Management Authority training room. Representatives included non-governmental organizations, government departments, academia, the private sector and freelance trainers. This workshop was an extension of a similar training workshop hosted in Costa Rica in 2009, and is being replicated throughout Central America.

Rainforest Alliance has developed a user-friendly resources toolkit to support the capacity building seminar. This toolkit is based on participatory techniques to ensure that future trainers will be able to disseminate the knowledge and further enhance uptake of sustainable tourism development in Central America.
