Belize Attends "Our World Underwater" Show
Belize was well represented in Rosemont, Illinois, at the 39th Annual Our World Underwater Show. The show took place on February 20th - 22nd, 2009 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
Our World Underwater Show brought together over 500 exhibitors from all corners of the world and over 15,000 attendees for a weekend of excitement and education. There were seminars and workshops examining destinations all over the world, film festivals, seminars, exhibits, and demonstrations by manufacturers, dive clubs, dive shops, tourism boards, and resorts.
The Belize Tourism Board's booth exhibit featured large photos of the Blue Hole and the Maya temples at Xunantunich as a backdrop as well as, other images of Belize's attractions. Consumers were provided with promotional materials to help them plan their vacation to Belize including illustrated maps of Belize, Destination Belize magazines and Belize Travel Guides.
Belize's marine attractions continue to be popular among its visitors and have been cited as a major influential factor when choosing a vacation destination. With its 185 mile long coral reef, three of the four coral atolls in the Caribbean, magnificent marine life with over 400 species of fish and over 70 different types of corals, Belize is a magnet for scuba divers and snorkelers around the world.
Participating private sectors included Ramon's Village and Ecological Divers. Representing the Belize Tourism Board were Product Development Officer, Kenneth Williams, and BTB Board Member, Mr. Jose Arceo.
