Belize Promoted at The "Destinations" Travel Show in London

Belize had a well-defined presence at "Destinations - The Holiday and Travel Consumer Show" in London, England.

This consumer travel show took place from February 5^th - February 8^th, 2009. Destinations is the UK's leading consumer travel show and the biggest live marketing channel. The show attracts over 54,000 travel connoisseurs craving inspiration, information, and exclusive deals. The show drives sales, builds the brand of exhibitors and acts as a hub for consumer travel information. Exhibitors were grouped by continent and included countries representing Asia and Pacific, Africa and Indian Ocean, Latin America, North America, Europe, Caribbean, and the Middle East.

Attendance at the show increased Belize's efforts to generate greater awareness of the destination in Europe. The highlight of Belize's participation at the show included Garifuna dance performers who caught the crowd's attention as they moved to the pulsating beat of the drums. A Belize country presentation was also shown with captivating images and sounds which portrayed Belize as a premier vacation destination.

The five day consumer show had representation from the Belize Hotel Association's European marketing initiative in the presence of Mariam Roberson, Nick Davies, Michael Preston; Ali Flota and Chris Spiro of El Pescador. The Belize Tourism Board was represented by the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Manuel Heredia, Jr.; vice chairman of the BTB's Board of Directors, Mr. Santino Castillo; and BTB marketing officer, Michelle Bowers. The Belize High Commissioner, Her Excellency, Ms. Kamela Palma and her staff also lent their support to the initiative.
