Belize Hosts the Belize Tourism Expo 2008

The Belize Tourism Board in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Industry Association held the bi-annual Belize Tourism Expo (BETEX) from July 30^th – August 3^rd 2008. This year's event portrayed the skills in selling the beauty and distinctiveness of Belize as a tourism destination.

The format of the Expo had changed slightly to ensure an even more valuable and rewarding experience for all participants. Decentralized marketplace sessions in various locations throughout Belize allowed for more direct interaction between agents and suppliers in the destinations.

There were ten expedition itineraries which included four nights of marketplace sessions in the destinations of San Pedro, Cayo, Dangriga, Hopkins, Placencia, Toledo and Belize City.

Approximately seventy-nine suppliers participated to showcase their products and to meet with 100 prospective agents and members of the press.

The participating agents had the option at registration, to choose from a variety of itineraries catering to specific niche markets. These included: Sea & Caye, Diving, Archaeology, Adventure, Rainforest & Jungle, Culture, Family, Luxury/Spa and Romance.

Experiencing Belize's services and attractions first-hand allows the visiting agents and members of the press to positively sell and portray Belize with confidence and enthusiasm and to better assist potential visitors to custom-design vacations to suit their budgets and interests.
