Welcome In this issue Marketing Product Development BTB Industry Update - June 2008

In the event of a hurricane

The 2008 hurricane season has already been an active and devastating one in the northern Caribbean and southern United States. With more than two months remaining in the official hurricane season, please be reminded to review and practice the procedures in your Hurricane Preparedness Plans.

Planning ahead for the safety of guests, the security of buildings and their contents, and supplies that would be needed in the event of a storm impacting your area will minimize losses and assist in getting the industry back on track as quickly as possible.

Please be reminded that in the event of a hurricane or major event impacting the tourism industry, the Belize Tourism Board will activate BelizeEmergency.net as the central point for tourism industry updates. The communications plans are intended to make visitors aware of relevant tourism industry information and to communicate when we are open and ready for business. The website will contain official BTB releases, destination updates and notices of specials and promotions offered by the industry in the aftermath. Once this website is activated, links are placed on all BTB websites and ongoing contact is established with local service providers and international trade and media. The private sector is encouraged to submit information to BelizeEmergency.net via email to pr@travelbelize.org or via designated telephone numbers that will be announced in the event of an emergency.

Be safe, be prepared and let us hope that BelizeEmergency.net will not have to be activated this hurricane season.
