New York Times Travel Show
Frosty winds and icy cold temperatures did not curb adventure enthusiasts from attending the New York Time Trade Show, where Belize had the distinct pleasure of being a part of from February 29th – March 1st, 2008.
On February 29th, the “trade day”, travel agents visited the BTB’s booth eager to collect information on Belize. The agents showed great interest in learning more about the destination and took multiple copies of the Destination Belize, Visitors Guide and maps for their clients who were interested in the destination. A few of the Belize CD’s were also distributed. March 1st and March 2nd were both open to the public and had a steady flow of persons stopping by the Belize booths to find out more on the Destination. The show also brought together hundreds of destinations, resorts, outfitters and gear manufacturers from around the globe to showcase the best in adventure travel. It is a US $115 billion dollar a year industry and growing.
Also on March 1st, Belize had the opportunity to showcase its culture. Lauren Burgess and the Garifuna Drummers from Belize, played their drums, sang and danced, and invited passers-by to join in the Belize activities.
Representing Belize were Michelle Bowers and Joycelyn McKoy. Private sector representative was the Inn at Roberts Grove.
