Hon. Manuel Heredia as the Guest Speaker at the BHA Luncheon

The Belize Hotel Association (BHA) held its first Membership Luncheon for 2008 at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza on March 12th, 2008. Invited guests present at the luncheon were Hon. Manuel Heredia, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mr. Mike Singh, CEO in the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Anthony “Boots” Martinez, Minister of Works and Mrs. Tracy Panton, Director of Tourism at the Belize Tourism Board. Over thirty-five BHA members were also represented at the luncheon along with members of the Board of Directors of the BHA and other representatives from the Belize Tourism Board.

The highlight of the luncheon was the Guest Speaker, Hon. Manuel Heredia, and Minister of Tourism. The Honorable Minister outlined his plans for the tourism industry and promised to work closely with stakeholders for the growth of the tourism industry in Belize. Mr. Heredia stated that the ministry has already made contact with some consultants to develop a National tourism plan and a national responsible tourism policy and after the completion, a grant of $15M has been procured for the upgrade of the industry.
