Black Outdoorsman Magazine visits Belize

Black Outdoorsman

April was a month filled with activities for the Belize Tourism Board, as it continues to promote travel to Belize.  Belize is known as one of the last-unspoiled places in the Caribbean, making it a must-visit for travel writers. In this regard we were once again visited by one of the well-known travel magazine, Black Outdoorsman Magazine.

Travel writer for the magazine, Keith Farrel, visited Belize between April 1st  to  April 8th, traversing both the inland and offshore areas of the country.  His familiarization trip first took him to the southern part of Belize where he entered the mysterious underworld of the Maya by exploring the Hokeb Ha Cave located in the village of Blue Creek.  While in the south of the country, Mr. Farrel engaged in an amazing day of snorkeling off the southern cayes of Belize.

The second stop in his itinerary took him to Ian Anderson's Caves Branch; here he had the opportunity to experience the popular "River of Caves" tour, which included floating past magnificent stalactites and stalagmites that cast shimmery glows on the cave walls. He then floated past underground waterfalls and into the crystal cathedral - a spiritual center to the ancient Mayans.Black Outdoorsman

The final activity on Mr. Farrel's itinerary took him to Jaguar Paw where he was surrounded by pristine jungle and wildlife.  He had the opportunity to feel the exhilaration of zip lining along a double set of cables, from treetop to treetop.

Black Outdoorsman Magazine is an online magazine with 40,000 unique visitors per month.  The publication is designed as a source for outdoor information and highlights the adventures of African-American outdoor enthusiasts.  Each issue provides the latest information on outdoor adventure and provides a diverse portrait of outdoor culture from an African-American perspective.

Participating private sector partners included: Hopkins Bay Resort, IBTM Tours, Ian Anderson's Caves Branch and Discovery Expeditions.
