Internet Marketing

Belize is one of the few countries that can boast that all licensed tourism service providers have an Internet presence.  While most businesses have their own websites.  The Belize Tourism Board offers the following opportunities.

Every licensed hotel with the Belize Tourism Board is listed in the Accommodation Directory of Travelbelize.org.  The listing is free and includes information on type of accommodation, amenities, rates, and most importantly the contact information so that guests can contact properties directly. The directory is updated annually (along with the license renewal package) or when contact information changes for the property. 

Hotels may also purchase a link from their listing in this directory to their own website at a charge of $100.00 + GST per year.

Toucan Trail Program

The Toucan Trail program is a small-hotels marketing program targeting local and international travelers on a budget. The program includes a website (www.toucantrail.com) with participating hotels and advertising on major Internet travel sites.  Qualifying hotels must be licensed and registered, offer double accommodations at US$60 or less per night, and be in good standing with the Belize Tourism Board.  Once a hotel has been approved, a webpage describing its features and including images is developed free of cost and included on the Toucan Trail website.  Hotels who already have websites are linked from the Toucan Trail website. Furthermore, participating Toucan Trail hotels can submit recipes and other information for additional exposure opportunities on the website.

Hotels must apply for inclusion in this program through the Marketing Department and Hotels Department at the BTB.

Summer Specials

Summer in Belize is a cooperative marketing program with the Belize Tourism Board aimed at increasing sales during the quieter summer months. Each participating hotel receives a page with their special, direct links to their website, and direct contact information. The website www.summerinbelize.com is heavily promoted on the Internet.

Family Special
 
As a part of the Summer In Belize promotion a special listing has been added to encourage family travel to Belize during the slower months of the year. This is a great opportunity for interested private sector companies, who wish to take advantage of this marketing initiative that has the potential for increased business opportunities between May and November.  Industry participants receive a free listing on the Family Specials page of SummerInBelize.com. The listings are actively promoted from May until November.

Free Stay Caribbean

The Free Stay Caribbean is a part of the Visitor Repeat Program.  As a member of this program, the Belize Tourism Board encourages cruise ship passengers to return to Belize for a longer stay.

All hotels have the opportunity to be listed on this website free of charge to them if they are willing to provide a package at a discounted or special offer.  Each hotel has their own information on this web site.
