“Offences and Penalties”
Section 27 (1)
– Any person who – 
a) without lawful excuse uses or advertise any premises as a hotel or tourist accommodation when such premises are not registered or when there is not in force a license granted to him by the Registrar authorizing him to use such premises for the business of a hotel or tourist accommodation; or
 
h) forges or falsifies ay books of account, register or other book required to be maintained under this Act; or
 
j) obstructs, prevents or otherwise hinders the entry into any hotel or tourist accommodation of the Registrar or any other person authorized by the Registrar to cary out any examination, inspection, scrutiny or check therein, or assaults or otherwise hinders any such officer in the performance of his duties under this Act; or
 
k) fails to comply with any requirements of this Act or any regulations made thereunder or with any lawful direction given to him by the Registrar, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000.00 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years, or to both such fine and imprisonment.
 
“Suspension of License”
Section 28 (1) – the Registrar may suspend a license of any licensed hotel or tourist accommodation who – fails or neglects to renew his license for the current year, fails to keep a guest register, fails to pay accommodation tax by the prescribed dates, fails to provide information called for by the Registrar. Or, if any person obstructs any authorized person from inspecting the premises, records, documents or books of accounts required to be kept.
 
“Cancellation of License”
Section 28 (2) – the Registrar may cancel a license and /or direct a hotel or tourist accommodation to be closed on any of the following grounds – the failure of the proprietor to register his premises, to obtain or to renew a license, to pay accommodation tax on the prescribed dates, to pay correct accommodation tax, or if the proprietor is convicted of any criminal offence in relation to the premises, or if the proprietor fails to ensure that the premises are maintained in keeping with the Minimum Standards Requirement.
 
“Appeals”
Section 32 (1)
– Any person who is aggrieved by the refusal of the Registrar to register any premises as a hotel or tourist accommodation, or the assessment of tax made by the Registrar, or the cancellation or suspension of a license already granted to him; may within 14 days of the notification of such refusal, assessment, cancellation or suspension make an appeal therefrom to the Minister. The Minister shall hear and determine any appeal made to him.
