Field Trips for School Children

These trips to Belize’s national parks and nature reserves cultivate an appreciation for Belize’s natural resources in the future stakeholders of the tourism industry.  Related activities educate students on the benefits of the tourism industry, its contributions to Belize’s economy, and the importance of the natural environment to the tourism product.

Destination Open Days

Targeted at students and the general public, open days showcase tourism service providers in their respective destinations.  Exhibitors include local hotels, tour operators, schools, artisans, dance and music groups, and the Belize Tourism Board.  Open days give all Belizeans an opportunity to share in the industry’s potential and to get more involved in its development.

Primary School Social Studies Quiz Competition

Contestants representing each district participate in an intense competition that tests their knowledge on such topics as history, government, civics, society and culture.

Visitor Appreciation Days

Visitors to Belize’s main ports of entry such as the Philip Goldson International Airport and the Fort Street Tourism Village are welcomed with musical entertainment and given a variety of Belizean made products.

Arts, Craft, Food and Wood Show

This exhibit was initiated by the Belize Tourism Board in collaboration with the Belize Business Bureau and the Belize City Council to promote the creativity of Belizean businesspersons.  The Arts, Craft, Food, and Wood Show also allows participants to network with local and international consumers and retailers. The show features producers of art, furniture, and Belizean goods as well as live music, local food, and beverages.

Familiarization Trips

Local media tours serve to acquaint the members of the press with newer activities that the private sector partners have to offer.

Belize Tourism Board Relay Triathlon

Carried out in coordination with the Belize National Triathlon Association, the Belize Tourism Board sponsors this sporting event, which involves one member of a team of three swimming for point four miles, running for three miles, and cycling for fifteen miles.  As a variation to traditional triathlons, one participant of every team in the BTB’s Relay triathlon must be a female athlete.
