Belize is blessed with a wonderful tourism product which includes:
- The longest barrier reef in this hemisphere, home to the Great Blue Hole, hundreds of islands, snorkel and dive locations.
- Hundreds of ancient Maya sites both excavated and jungle-covered.
- Lush tropical rainforest with many species of birds, exotic flora and fauna, cool clear rivers and cascading waterfalls.
- Over ten friendly, English-speaking and diverse cultures willing to share our Belizean hospitality, natural and cultural heritage with our visitors.
We know that our visitors have many destination choices when making their vacation decision and as a nation we will consistently strive to improve the level and quality of our tourism product, our infrastructure and the expertise of our service providers. We recognize that our tourism industry has been built on the wealth of natural attractions and through our Master Plan for Tourism will continue to focus on the development of the tourism industry in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Successful and sustainable development of our industry is dependent upon a strong partnership between the public and private sector and the involvement of the entire population. We encourage you to learn about the industry, abide by the regulations, actively participate in Belize’s tourism growth, and work with us to strengthen the tourism partnership in order that our visitors have a safe and enjoyable vacation and our stakeholders can secure a return on their investments.
