tourism industry. Related activities educate students on the benefits
of the tourism industry, its contributions to Belize’s economy, and the
importance of the natural environment to the tourism product.
Destination Open Days
Targeted at students and the
general public, open days showcase tourism service providers in their
respective destinations. Exhibitors include local hotels, tour
operators, schools, artisans, dance and music groups, and the Belize
Tourism Board. Open days give all Belizeans an opportunity to share in
the industry’s potential and to get more involved in its development.
Primary School Social Studies Quiz Competition
Contestants
representing each district participate in an intense competition that
tests their knowledge on such topics as history, government, civics,
society and culture.
Visitor Appreciation Days Visitors to Belize’s
main ports of entry such as the Philip Goldson International Airport
and the Fort Street Tourism Village are welcomed with musical
entertainment and given a variety of Belizean made products.
