MUNDO MAYA ORGANIZATION (MMO)
The Mundo Maya is a historical collaboration of five countries (Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, and Mexico) that aims to standardize and distribute information on the "Maya World".  The main objective of the Mundo Maya Organization (OMM) is to promote the sustainable development of the Mayan zones in the respective countries through tourism.  This implies understanding the promotion of sustainable tourism as a form of development that allows the appropriate use of the natural and cultural resources, the participation and the improvement of the quality of life of the local communities, the economic contribution to other programs of national and regional development, and the optimal satisfaction of tourists.

Mundo Maya Organization also works with UNESCO's World Heritage Center as an advisory and advocacy body that assists in project design, planning, and implementation at Mesoamerican World Heritage sites.

The objectives are to:

  • Facilitate the free movement of tourists in the Mayan World.
  • Place and diversify the product with high standards of excellence.
  • Strengthen mechanisms to execute sustainable tourism project programs.
  • Preserve and manage the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage productively.
  • Develop monitoring systems to facilitate decision making.
