The Belize Tourism Board attends Sales Blitz in San Salvador/Guatemala
Belize City, Tuesday, July 15, 2008 The Belize Tourism Board, accompanied by several members of the private sector, attended two sales blitz in San Salvador and Guatemala as part of the Belize’s regional marketing initiatives as a member country of SICA. Invited to both presentations were wholesalers, tour operators, travel agents, and airline agents. The first sales blitz, held in San Salvador at a breakfast presentation at the Sheraton Presidente on July 8th, had the attendance of 30 travel agents, wholesalers, tour operators, and airline agents, while the second sales blitz which had an attendance and participation of 46 agents, was held in Guatemala at the Princess Hotel on July 9th. The agents had the opportunity to learn more about the diversity of destinations, the attractions, and activities there are to be had in Belize. Private Sector members who attended the two day sales blitz had the opportunity to display their products and services at a mini-tradeshow where they had the opportunity to meet on a one-on-one basis with industry specialists that were present. Promotional materials such as Destination Belize magazines, Spanish brochures, maps of Belize, and the Spanish country presentation were given to agents who attended the presentation. Samples of Belizean-made products such as miniature jellies and miniature peppers courtesy of Marie Sharp and Hot Mamas were given to participants as small gifts. Two vacation packages to Belize were also raffled, one at each presentation location.
"Attendance at presentations such as these is an excellent opportunity for Belize to grow its relationship with travel agents in the Central American region. The number of travel agents who attended these presentations and the participation of a large delegation from the Belize private sector is a strong indicator of the interest in the growth of this region," comments Director of Tourism, Mrs. Tracy Panton. Both Sales Blitz were organized by the Belize Tourism Board. Participating private sector partners included The Lodge at Chaa Creek, Ka'ana Boutique Resort, Midas Resort/BHA, Belize Legacy Resort, Ramon's Village, Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza, Hugh Parkey's Belize Adventures, and the Belize Tourism Industry Association.
